“This new jointly operated large-volume production unit will support demand from European and international customers at a time when the world is moving towards digitalization and decarbonization,” explain the two groups.
The jointly operated entity will be adjacent to ST’s existing 300mm manufacturing plant in Crolles, near Grenoble. It should reach its full capacity by 2026 to produce up to 620,000 300mm wafers per year, of which about 42% for ST.
It will produce a wide range of technologies, including the full ST technology roadmap down to the 18nm node, for products for automotive, industrial, IoT (Internet of Things) and infrastructure. communication.
