STMicro: launches a heavy-duty automotive amp

(CercleFinance.com) – STMicroelectronics today announces the production of an automotive qualified micro-power op amp, ‘resistant to extreme temperatures (-40°C to 150°C) and extended missions’.

As a Class 0 device, this new op-amp can operate continuously at 65°C for more than 25 years while Class 1 devices are specified for eight years without failure.

‘This feature is ideal for applications such as the battery management system of hybrid and electric vehicles, which is never switched off and must consume as little energy as possible,’ the company points out.

Furthermore, on the same day, STMicroelectronics inaugurated the first photovoltaic carport installation of the ST Group in France, in Grenoble.

The installation includes 5,800 photovoltaic solar panels with a surface area of 10,900 m² on its car park and reduces the site’s emissions by nearly 80 tonnes of CO2 per year, or 10% of its energy consumption. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for the summer of 2023.
