STMicro: new series of MCUs for electric vehicles – 02/21/2022 at 17:45

(CercleFinance.com) – STMicroelectronics today announces a new series of automotive microcontrollers (MCUs) optimized for electric vehicles and centralized electronic architectures (domains and zones).

Thanks to these new components, electric vehicles will be less expensive, will be able to travel a longer distance and will recharge more quickly.

“A single microcontroller is now sufficient to control the entire module, which simplifies module design, reduces costs and facilitates compliance with current automotive safety and security standards,” the group states.

“Our Stellar family of microcontrollers enable sophisticated electrification while providing efficient power management and flexibility of a software-defined model at different stages of the vehicle lifecycle,” said Luca Rodeschini, Vice President Automotive and Discrete Products group in charge of strategic development, and General Manager, Automotive Processing & RF of STMicroelectronics.
