(CercleFinance.com) – STMicroelectronics unveiled on Tuesday a new range of wireless microcontrollers that comply with cybersecurity directives due to come into force next year in Europe and the United States.

The chip manufacturer specifies that these tools are part of the European ‘RED’ directive which aims to guarantee the security of mobile devices, protect the privacy and personal data of citizens and prevent the risk of fraud.

They also meet the criteria for the ‘Cyber Trust Mark’, a label created by the Biden administration to help Americans identify connected devices that meet the government’s cybersecurity requirements.

The STM32WBA54 and STM32WBA55 microcontrollers, which will be available from next week, notably integrate an Arm Cortex-M33 core 100MHz processor.
