PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–Semiconductor manufacturers STMicroelectronics and GlobalFoundries announced on Monday the signing of a memorandum of understanding to build a new production unit for a wide range of technologies in France. , representing an investment of several billion euros.

Their new production unit will be adjacent to STMicroelectronics’ existing 300 mm semiconductor manufacturing plant in Crolles, near Grenoble. This new unit should reach its full capacity by 2026 to produce up to 620,000 300 mm wafers per year.
