(Boursier.com) — The equity savings plan (PEA) was created by the public authorities to develop stock market investments by individuals… It is therefore a medium or long-term savings product. There are several types of PEA: the capitalization PEA, the PEA-PME, the purpose of which is to finance SMEs and ETIs, the young PEA intended for investors aged 18 to 25.

PEAs are regulated savings products, in particular by the Monetary and Financial Code.
It is possible for an individual to open a PEA in a bank (traditional or online), an insurance company or an online stock broker. These have multiplied in recent years and offer complete offers for reasonable pricing. It should be noted, however, that it is not always possible to open a PEA with a broker and that the fees may vary from one establishment to another. It is therefore in your interest to carry out a verification by carrying out a comparative online broker PEA.

The taxation of a PEA is attractive, which justifies using it… To benefit from it, you must keep your PEA for 5 years without making any withdrawals. You will thus be exempt from taxation on capital gains. On the other hand, you will have to pay social security contributions of 17.2%.

Deposits on a classic PEA are capped at 150,000 euros and payments must be made in euros by French tax residents. The investment concerns, with some exceptions, the shares of companies located in the European Union.
