“Stop bullshitting, don’t talk nonsense!” : big clash between Barbara Lefebvre and a listener in the Grandes Gueules

On January 14, tempers flared when teacher Barbara Lefebvre dealt with a listener who was very upset with her.

Tempers flared this Friday, January 14 in The Big Mouths on RMC. This time, it was about the last commercial operation of a large retailer. The latter announced that it would offer a baguette sold at 29 cents for four months, even though INSEE lists the price of the average baguette in France in 2021 at 90 cents. This announcement has attracted a torrent of reactions, in particular from the main players in the agricultural sector who denounce “demagogic” prices while flour prices continue to climb. Philip, RMC listener and interim butcher, wanted to give his opinion on the matter, while attacking one of the show’s personalities. Barbara Lefebvre, columnist and teacher.

“Talk about things you know!”

“I am super cheered up by Barbara, indeed specified the listener from the outset. He began by giving his opinion on the 29-cent baguette, which he considers to be a good offer for consumers. But very quickly, he completely deviated from the subject and returned to comments made by the polemicist a few minutes earlier: “I want you to talk, Mrs. Barbara, about things you know. When you don’t know, don’t speak. When you talk about charcuterie, don’t say anything. Just because you eat 40g of ham doesn’t mean you’re going to get cancer.” Faced with these words, Barbara Lefebvre remained unmoved, not understanding the nervousness of the listener: “I never said that Philippe. So already you may be going calm down a bit because I never said that. I talked about industrial charcuterie so excuse me if you are a butcher, I imagine that you respect your profession so I respect artisan butchers and artisan charcuterie. I don’t respect charcuterie with nitrates and crap of dyes that we put in cellophane-wrapped charcuterie.”

“Go sell a slice of ham!”

Except that the listener was well launched and persisted:let me talk. You talk about stuff you don’t know. Go sell a slice of ham, come to the sale, come see! Because when the ham is gray, there are no colorings or anything, people don’t want it.” On the set, the animators Olivier Truchot, Alain Marschall and their other columnists did not fail to laugh in front of theapparent misunderstanding between the two interlocutors. “But are you listening or are you not listening to anything? I’m talking to you about industrial charcuterie wrapped in cellophane”, exasperated Barbara Lefebvre. But very quickly, the misunderstanding is explained when the listener declares: “But even traditional charcuterie! Stop your bullshit! People don’t buy the ham if it’s gray. You go to the delicatessen you see the gray ham, you don’t take any. Don’t talk nonsense, let’s be honest.”
