Keep books

Do's for storing books

  • One cool, dry place is ideal for book storage. The basement usually does not meet these criteria and could be too damp and thus promote mold growth.
  • A bookcase (as well as other furniture) should be included if possible a few centimeters away from the wall stand to allow air to circulate. Bookshelves or wardrobes can encourage mold, especially on exterior walls.
  • The shelves should be off Wood without paint or coatings be to protect the books from unpleasant odors.
  • Low dust the good pieces stay on a shelf with doors.

Don'ts – keep your hands off that

  • The books turn yellow in rooms where people smoke, very quickly and take on the smell.
  • So that the colors don't fading, the books should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
  • Ideally, the books are not too close to each other or even at an angle on the shelf – this way forgiven them quickly.

Protect special books

You may have an heirloom that is particularly important to you or an antiquated collector's item that you want to protect. A protective cover may be useful for sensitive books. There are slipcases, for example, in different designs and also made to measure – maybe the right thing for your book?
