“We were brave, but incredibly naive,” remembers ex-storm star Markus Schopp, who is currently coaching Barnsley in the English championship. “With Monaco you combine glitz and glamor, you come to a stadium that you only know from television. And you think to yourself: Maybe the prince will stop by at the game, too, ”says Schopp, looking back. “But as a player you have to ignore everything, you mustn’t be impressed by the external factors – otherwise you have no chance.”
