“Storm of Love” only runs for a few more weeks, after which fans have to say goodbye for the time being.

“Sturm der Liebe” viewers are probably less happy about the warm temperatures at the moment, because summer not only brings ice and sunshine, but above all: the summer break. Every year the entire crew of the telenovela goes on a well-deserved vacation – and the fans are left dry. The date for this year is now set and is significantly longer than the viewers are used to.

“Storm of Love”: The summer break is scheduled until the end of July

This year, the fans have to do without their favorite telenovela for an unusually long time, because the summer break of “Sturm der Liebe” and the sister series “Rote Rosen” begins on Monday, June 12, 2023 and ends on Sunday, July 23, 2023. Six in all So there will be no new episodes for weeks, until Monday, July 24, 2023, when both formats will be broadcast on television as usual and can be streamed in the media library.

Such a long interruption can of course cause further displeasure among the fans in the context of the ongoing discussions about a continuation of the series. One thing is clear: “Sturm der Liebe” will definitely be on the air by 2025, and ARD has approved two more seasons. However: This time only 330 new episodes were ordered, in 2019 there were 400. One reason: the difficult financing of the series. The program director of the first, Christine Strobl, had already commented on this: “In view of our limited resources, we have to consider whether we can still afford a fictional offer in the afternoon.”

Telenovela still going strong

While production costs continue to rise, the series is struggling with falling quotas: Basically, “Sturm der Liebe” can look forward to an average market share of a good 14 percent – but this value is anything but carved in stone. According to “Quotenmeter”, the numbers among younger viewers in particular sometimes fluctuate greatly.

The 4,000th episode in April didn’t change that much. “Storm of Love” (and also “Red Roses”) must succeed in attracting new fans in the future if the format is to be maintained in the long term. The series is certain until 2025 – but nobody can say for sure how things will continue after that.
