Stranger Things 4: A detail hidden in the last episode announces the creators’ next project

Season 4 of Stranger Things is finally fully revealed. And in the last episode there is a hidden detail that announces the Duffer brothers’ next project. Explanations.

If Stranger Things is to conclude with season 5 and if Matt and Ross Duffer, the creators of the Netflix series, have a spin-off in mind, they also have another project in the works. We learned it last year and we had already forgotten, but the Duffer brothers team up with Steven Spielberg to adapt a work by Stephen King.

Indeed, they plan to adapt The Talismana fantasy novel co-written by Stephen King and Peter Straub, published in 1984. The keenest eyes will have noticed the wink slipped in the last episode to this future project as revealed by the Stephen King France Twitter account which do not miss any information related to the master of horror:

This is the book that Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) reads to Max (Sadie Sink) in her hospital room at the end of episode 9 while she is in a deep coma. In an interview at Vanity FairMatt Duffer gave some info on The Talisman:

We’re starting to branch out a bit into producing projects that we won’t necessarily be the showrunners of, just because there are properties or writers or directors that we really admire and want to work with. The Talisman is an example.

To carry out this project, the brothers are “forced” to work with Steven Spielberg who bought the rights in perpetuity. “That’s why nobody adapted it. The option never expiredexplains Matt Duffer. Our friend Curtis Gwinn is the showrunner of this series, and he is one of the writers of Stranger Things. He called us and said, ‘Would you like to be involved in any way?’

And we’re like, ‘Are you kidding?’ It’s Stephen King and Steven Spielberg, and it’s about a boy who goes to another dimension not to save his friend, but to save his mother. There are so many parallels to Stranger Things. It’s very different in tone, so it won’t be a kind of Stranger Things: Part 2…

We must now arm ourselves with patience before discovering this new series!
