Stranger Things 4: Did Eleven create the Upside Down? Millie Bobby Brown shares her theory

Where does the Upside Down come from, this parallel universe that is at the heart of “Stranger Things, and who is the creator? The star of the series, Millie Bobby Brown has a theory.

Warning, spoilers! This article contains important plot elements of “Stranger Things” season 4.

If season 4 of Stranger Things answers many questions, many others remain unanswered. One of them concerns the Upside Down and its origin. The seventh episode shows Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) confronting Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) in Hawkins’ laboratory in 1979. To get rid of him, the heroine throws him against the wall and opens a portal. One disintegrates and disappears on the other side before becoming Vecna.

This face-to-face takes place four years before the disappearance of Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) and therefore marks the very first appearance of the Upside Down in the universe of the series. In a meeting granted to variety, the star of the series, Millie Bobby Brown, confirms that it is Eleven who for the very first time opens a crack towards the parallel universe. “That’s what the Duffer brothers told me [les créateurs]”, she adds.

However, nothing says that the guinea pig of doctor Brenner is the creator. “This is too big a topic for me to answer.“, she concedes before sharing her theory anyway: “I think that alternate universe has always been there and will always be under Hawkins. I just think she has access to it. I don’t believe she created the Upside Down. She just opened a portal, which no one could do before.”

The mystery remains intact. The creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer, affirmed, always for variety, that volume 2 of season 4 will answer a few questions. Nevertheless, the creation of the Upside Down will not find an answer soon. The duo keeps the surprise for the fifth and final season.

Stranger Things is available on Netflix.
