The nostalgia is back with Season 4 of Stranger Things. Since the first season, the Duffer brothers have had fun paying homage to genre cinema of the 1980s. Obvious sources of inspiration or winks aimed at the most discerning moviegoers, the references are like a treasure hunt.
But the game seems to become more complex with this new opus. If some references are obvious, others are much more subtle or even almost imperceptible. Like this season 4, which has become sprawling, the imagery of the Duffer brothers has also expanded in sometimes surprising ways.
