With release lags and time jumps, the public of Stranger Things can get lost with the ages of the characters camped by actors who have now grown up well… Before the release of season 4 on Netflix, we make the point.
When the inaugural season of Stranger Things hit Netflix in July 2016, its young lead actors were close to the age of their characters. For its fourth season, broadcast in two parts from May 27, the story is quite different.
We had to wait three years before being able to discover this fourth season, after filming delays due to the pandemic, and these new episodes will show us actors who have grown up and who are now older than their characters!
That’s the risk you take when shooting with young teenagers. With this obvious physical change and the small jump in time planned in season 4, which takes place in the spring of 1986, let’s take stock of the ages of the actors and actresses of Stranger Things and the now noticeable difference between the characters and their interpreters.

Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown)
Eleven was born in 1971 and is 12 years old in the first season of Stranger Things, which takes place in 1983. She will therefore be 15 years old in season 4 in 1986 and will start high school. In comparison, its interpreter Millie Bobby Brown, born in 2004 will be 18 years old when the first part of season 4 of the series will be put online on Netflix.

Mike (Finn Wolfhard)
Same story for her boyfriend Mike, also born in 1971. He will therefore also be 15 years old in season 4 of Stranger Things. Its interpreter Finn Wolfhard is a year older than Millie Bobby Brown and will therefore be 19 when the first episodes of season 4 of Stranger Things are broadcast.

Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo)
Even though his date of birth wasn’t revealed in the Netflix series, unlike some of his castmates, it’s safe to assume that Dustin shares the same birth year as his pals. He should therefore also be 15 years old in season 4 of Stranger Things. For his part, Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin, is 19 years old, like Finn Wolfhard.

Will (Noah Schnapp)
Even if he seems younger than his friends, Will is the same age as them, since he was born on March 2, 1971, as revealed in season 2 of Stranger Things. He will therefore be 15 years old also in season 4. It is his interpreter Noah Schnapp who is the youngest of the band since he was born in 2005 and is only 17 years old. He is the actor in the strip who is closest in age to his character.

Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin)
It is assumed that Lucas is the same age as his comrades and should therefore be 15 in season 4 of the series. But it is the one that seems to have changed the most between season 3 and season 4 and for good reason, its interpreter Caleb McLaughlin is 20 years old! He is one of the actors in the band who is furthest removed in age from his character.

Max (Sadie Sink)
The one who joined Stranger Things in season 2 also seems to be the same age as her comrades. Max will therefore be 15 years old in season 4 of the series. His interpreter Sadie Sink is five years older! She is therefore one of the most distant actresses in age from her character, like Caleb McLaughlin.
