  • With the 5th season “Stranger Things” the successful science fiction series reaches its finale.
  • This should combine the best of the 1st and 4th seasons.
  • Fans hope this will bring Will, Jonathan and Joyce Byers back into the story.

Will we see more of the Byers family in Stranger Things Season 5? A recent post shared on Twitter by the series’ writing team at least gives hope. In their tweet, the team describes Season 5 of the Netflix series as a Season 1-Season 4 baby who was pumped full of steroids.

Fans of the series take this as unofficial confirmation that Will, Jonathan and Joyce will be getting more screen time. The “Stranger Things” community seems to be waiting for more time for Will Byers in particular.

Underneath the post, many of the Twitter users highlighted how seldom the Byers family, especially Will, was seen after Season 1 ended. While the series initially focused on the disappearance of Will and the desperate search of his family and friends for the boy, by the second season he was becoming less and less relevant.

The world of “Stranger Things” has expanded and brought other characters and actions into focus. Only Joyce retained an important role in the franchise even after her son was found. While Season 4 often revolved around Joyce’s mission to find Hopper, Will and Jonathan no longer had a direct focus.

In Season 4, Will is primarily concerned with his romantic feelings for his best friend Mike, while Jonathan has been mostly in the background. The big brother, who was particularly relevant in seasons 1 and 2, only got a say in the current season when he was arguing with his girlfriend Nancy.

Despite being important characters whose storylines in season 1 were directly related to the shadow world, Will and Jonathan faded into the background as the show progressed. Season 5 could fix that now.

If Season 5 of “Stranger Things” is going to be similar to Season 1, it can focus more on the Byers family again. This would also close the circle between the first and last episodes of the science fiction series.

Will’s connection to the shadow world appears to be a key element in Season 5’s” way of taking down Vecna. This should inevitably give Will more time to assert himself on screen. The other Byers could also become more important again .

By the end of Season 4, all of Elfie’s companions were reunited. All are in the same place and all have the same goal. This ensures more interaction among the characters and thus also means that some figures inevitably have to emerge from oblivion.
