“Stranger Things” and “Enola Holmes” star Millie Bobby Brown announces a special project that takes her outside of acting. She will write a novel for William Morrow, part of HarperCollins.
Her debut novel is entitled Nineteen Steps and tells the story of 18-year-old Nellie Morris, who lives in Bethnal Green in London’s East End. The historical novel takes place during World War II. After Nellie’s chance encounter with a US airman stationed nearby, an air raid leads to a horrific incident with catastrophic results.
The book is further described as an “epic tale of love, loss and secrets”. Brown was inspired to write about the historic event by her grandmother Ruth. It survived the Bethnal Green disaster, in which scores of British civilians died. “Nineteen Steps” will be released on September 12, 2023.
