  • Secretary of State Livia Leu and US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman signed a declaration of intent on an exchange between Switzerland and the USA on Friday.
  • This allows priorities to be set for bilateral relations and promotes the search for solutions to global problems, according to the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) in a statement.

The “Strategic Partnership Dialogue” between the USA and Switzerland is to take place annually.

Trade should also be strengthened. With a volume of USD 300 billion, Switzerland ranked seventh among foreign investors in the USA last year, according to the FDFA.

In a tweet Friday night, Leu described the MOU as a “significant milestone” with one of Switzerland’s most important partners in many areas. Sherman tweeted that the United States values ​​Switzerland as a partner and will continue to work closely with her to advance common interests.

It was the second meeting between Leu and Sherman. They met in Bern in autumn 2021 and talked about current events, especially in Afghanistan.
