Films, football games, series and concerts – Swisscom is expanding its TV offering for customers with Blue Play and other extras. Specifically, existing subscription customers benefit from thousands of films and series via the in-house streaming service. You can also call up highlights of sports broadcasts at the push of a button. From 2022,
Broadcast live performances by musicians via Blue Music.
“In brief: All Swiss have access to Blue,” says Dirk Wierzbitzki (55), Head of Private Customers and member of the Swisscom Group Management when the offer was presented.
Access yes, but only for selected customers. The new offer from Swisscom will only be activated for TV customers with an M, L or X subscription at no additional cost.
Critique of exclusivity
If you still have an old Swisscom TV box from the HD generation at home, you have to replace it in order to take advantage of the new offer. “The new box currently costs 39 francs instead of around 100,” promises Wierzbitzki. It is not known how long the discount will be valid.
There is criticism from Ralf Beyeler (43), telecom expert at the online comparison service Moneyland. He posted several critical tweets on Twitter. For example: “Swisscom advertises Blue Play as free. The offer is of course not free, the customer needs an overpriced internet subscription (from 65 CHF / month) and a TV subscription (from 25 CHF / month) ”, the expert says via Twitter.
Oliver Zadori (38), telecom expert at the comparison portal Dschungelkompass, criticized Blick’s exclusivity: “The range of series and films is extensive. It’s a shame that this large media library is only available with a relatively expensive Swisscom subscription and is not open to other interested parties for a streaming fee. “
Zadori continues: “Switching because of the new Swisscom subscription is not really worth it in terms of price. But this is a very good offer for existing customers. “
Promoting sports highlights at the push of a button and young musicians
Swisscom promises to make live sport more attractive. At the push of a button, viewers can look up important scenes from a sporting event – such as a decisive penalty in a football game. Claudia Lässer (45), Head of Blue Sport & Blue News, is proud: “Only we have live games that are commented on in four languages. The Champions League is also only available exclusively from Blue TV. “
With the Blue Music offer, Swisscom would like to promote young musicians. The idea: From 2022, selected music events will be broadcast live. Including well-known festivals such as the Gurten Festival or the Openair Frauenfeld. “Music moves everyone, and we want to be part of it,” says Wierzbitzki.
