While most fans of versus fighting are obviously on Street Fighter 6, Capcom don’t forget the previous opus of the franchise, which is celebrating its eighth anniversary. For the occasion, the Japanese studio spoke on social networks in order to publish a message, with mostly excuses.
Eh yes, Capcom is perfectly aware thatWhen Street Fighter V launched in 2016, fans were disappointed (TEST – Street Fighter V: a fighting game that needs to be finished). A gameplay which lacked depth, a roster too light, technical problems, the developers had a lot to do to restore its letters of nobility to the fighting game, with lots of updates, content packs and reissues.
Street Fighter V is celebrating 8 years since its release!
From the beginning to the middle of the release, there were network issues, lack of content, etc. We are very sorry for the content that did not meet the expectations of many of you.
From the mid to late game, the Street Fighter V development team did a lot of soul-searching and worked hard to fix kinks as much as possible. In the end, there were 45 playable characters, and the combat system was able to add V-Skill, V-Trigger II, V-Shift, etc.
Thanks to you, the number of players playing Street Fighter V has increased significantly since Season 4. I still remember how happy I was. Even today, hundreds of thousands of people play Street Fighter V. I’m really happy about it too!
Above all, the most important point was that I was able to apply this thinking to Street Fighter 6.
I feel once again that these last eight years have been spent together, with everyone.
