The Federal Ministry of Health wants uniform rules for all vacationers. Shortly before the summer vacation ends in several federal states, the federal government is now laying down tougher entry rules.
From Sunday there will be random checks on trains, on motorways and also at the borders. Unvaccinated people must then submit a negative rapid antigen test. If they come from high-risk areas and virus variant areas, they have to be quarantined.
So far, travelers have been able to avoid the obligation to test and quarantine if they do not travel to Germany by plane. The stricter test and verification requirement also applies to all trips. So even if holidaymakers only stay for a short time and, for example, over the weekend in the neighboring countries of Austria, Belgium, Italy, Luxembourg or France.
Who Needs a Rapid Negative Antigen Test?
All holidaymakers who travel to Germany from abroad and are not vaccinated need a negative rapid antigen test. Vaccinated and convalescent persons must have their proof with them. The federal police and border guards are supposed to carry out the random checks. But the authority apparently feels taken by surprise.
Before entering from high-risk areas and virus variant areas, unvaccinated persons must also fill out a digital entry form and go into ten-day quarantine. Only on the fifth day can they leave the isolation by means of a rapid antigen test.
Compliance with the quarantine is checked by the local law enforcement officers and the health authorities.
Who has to quarantine him?
All unvaccinated people who come from risk areas and virus variant areas must be in quarantine. As of now, there are returnees from, among others, Egypt, Argentina, Brazil, Georgia, India, Namibia, the Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, South Africa and Cyprus.
The following applies: Returnees from high-risk areas can interrupt the isolation with a quick test after five days. If you come from virus variant areas, the quarantine applies – without interruption – for 14 days.
But from Sunday, new risk areas will also apply. Denmark, France, Greece, Ireland, Malta, the Maldives, Monaco and Turkey could be declared high risk areas because the 14-day incidence in these countries is over 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants. Returnees from Greece and Turkey would be particularly hard hit.
What do rapid antigen tests cost abroad?
FOCUS Online advises: Always check on arrival where you can get a rapid antigen test for the return journey abroad. The hotel can help the staff find doctors, pharmacies or the competent test centers. Airports are not obliged to offer test stations, they just have to check the documents. Find out about the current prices. Ideally, any pharmacy in the holiday destination can also help.
Also remember that there are many black sheep lurking with exorbitant prices. Sometimes they then charge over 100 euros for a simple rapid antigen test.
