STRIKE NOTICE AT RYANAIR IN SEVERAL EUROPEAN COUNTRIES

BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Unions of Ryanair flight attendants have filed strike notices in Belgium, France and several other European countries from next weekend to denounce their working conditions and pay.

A social movement should disrupt the flights of the Irish low-cost company in Portugal and Belgium from June 24 to 26, i.e. at the height of the European Union summit in Brussels.

A strike is also planned in France on June 25 and 26, and in Italy on June 25.

Spain could be the most affected country, with notices from June 24 to 26 and from June 30 to July 2.

The Belgian unions ACV and BBTK accuse Ryanair of not respecting Belgian labor law, in particular on the question of the minimum wage or the regulations for the work carried out by cabin crew before and after flights.

A spokesman for the company called on the unions on Friday to resume negotiations.

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said on Tuesday that the strikes would have no impact on the company’s business.
