Strike of liberal doctors: why do they demand an increase in the price of consultations?

For the second time since the beginning of the month, the unions of liberal doctors are calling for a strike. In particular, they demand better remuneration by passing the consultations to 50 euros. An increase in prices which would allow health professionals to better take care of patients, as explained by a general practitioner at the microphone of Europe 1.

The unions of liberal doctors are calling for mobilization this week, at least until next Monday. A strike in the cabinets, but also a strike by the guards. This is their second protest movement after the one which was very well attended at the beginning of December. Doctors are demanding better pay.

The doctors ask for the consultation at 50 euros

A consultation at 50 euros, that’s what liberal doctors are asking to make the profession more attractive. Today, according to the unions, only 10% of doctors settle in liberal after their studies. Twenty euros more per appointment would also relieve the long days of professionals.

“The doctor would like to employ administrative assistance to be able to relieve himself of the 20-25% of working time which is purely administrative. That represents 10 to 15 hours of work per week”, explains Christèle Audigier, general practitioner near Lyon. “Which is impossible at the moment, with 25 € per consultation.”

“Some doctors are forced to do slaughter”

The objective would therefore be to have free time to allow better care. “It would allow us to take more time and provide better care. To return to their duties, some are forced to do what is called slaughter, that is to say, they follow consultations “, regrets the general practitioner at the microphone of Europe 1.

Cabinets will remain closed for at least a week. This strike is renewable if the health insurance does not hear the claims of the professionals.
