Timo Werner is allowed to leave RB Leipzig for the time being

Timo Werner’s ongoing form crisis endangers his possible participation in the home European Championships. The striker can try his luck elsewhere in the future, says his current club. However, Werner recently made it clear that he wanted to make his way at RB Leipzig.

National soccer player Timo Werner, who is still deep in a sporting crisis, has received approval from his club RB Leipzig for a possible move in the winter transfer window. Werner can therefore go on loan to another club in order to offer himself for the German national team’s European Championship squad with a lot of match practice. He was recently no longer taken into account by national coach Julian Nagelsmann.

“Timo is our player. We have great confidence in his abilities and value him extremely highly as a person. Our wish is that he prevails at RB Leipzig. We are of course also discussing further options with him,” said sports director Rouven Schröder, who like Coach Marco Rose is also in contact with the 27-year-old. However, he recently let it be known that he wanted to get through to RB. And the club actually wants Werner to achieve a turnaround in Leipzig.

Werner has been in a slump in form since the start of the season. He only appeared sporadically because Leipzig’s attack included newcomer Loïs Openda and Yussuf Poulsen and Benjamin Sesko had overtaken Leipzig’s record scorer. Werner is also often injured and is currently missing due to back problems. Werner returned from Chelsea FC in the summer of 2022 for 20 million euros, to whom he moved in 2020. He was no longer able to build on his record from his first RB tenure with 95 goals in 159 games.

“He’s going through a difficult phase, we support him. It’s not always all sunshine and roses. If someone has the issue of wanting to do something different, then we’ll deal with it,” Schröder said recently.
