Y will there be gas this weekend? Fuel supplies, disrupted by strikes against pension reform, remain “tense” Friday in Île-de-France on the eve of the long Easter weekend, according to feedback from stations and a representative of the oil sector.

This Thursday, the government was prevented by justice from again requisitioning striking personnel responsible for pumping and shipping from the Normandy TotalEnergies refinery in Gonfreville-l’Orcher to Île-de-France and Center-Val of the Loire. The administrative court of Rouen suspended these requisitions for “infringement of the right to strike”.

The government fuel price website testifies to the persistent supply difficulties in the Paris region. The most affected department is Val-de-Marne where one in ten service stations (9.52%) is dry on Friday, and nearly one in two (40.48%) in shortage of gasoline.

The situation is improving

The situation is hardly more enviable in Hauts-de-Seine and Paris, with more than 30% of stations lacking a type of fuel, and to a lesser extent in Yvelines (24.49%), l Essonne (20.44%) and Seine-Saint-Denis (17.78%). The rupture rates are of the same order in Centre-Val de Loire and Pays de Loire, which represents a slight improvement compared to Monday.

On a national average, 5.7% of stations lacked fuel, down from the start of the week (10%). Ufip, which represents companies in the sector, believes that “the situation continues to improve, including for Île-de-France, even if the region is still under tension”.

Ufip ensures that this is also improving in the refineries which “still operate in degraded mode” and that “the depots are operational”, except for two or three “still blocked” out of 200.
