Stronger than Titanic and Avatar! This cult fantasy saga will make its big comeback in cinemas with 3 films

After the success of the film “The Infinity Train” in 2021, the “Demon Slayer” saga will soon reach its conclusion in theaters with a trilogy that will conclude the cult animated series!

While season 4 has just ended on Crunchyroll with the denouement of the Pillar Training arc, Demon Slayer is already announcing its sequel! Fans will be in heaven because the anime will be entitled to a worthy ending with 3 films that will be released directly in theaters.

Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment will distribute the films in theaters, they said in a statement. The final arc will be called The Infinite Fortress.

A trilogy for demon slayers!

“Demon Slayer is a phenomenal franchise and all of us at Crunchyroll are thrilled to have been a part of this journey since its inception. We are thrilled to bring fans this trilogy of films to the big screen; it promises to be one of the most epic and important pop culture events of our time.”said Rahul Purini, President of Crunchyroll.

As a reminder, Demon Slayer is one of the most popular anime in the world. It is adapted from the manga created by Koyoharu Gotoge, totaling 23 volumes and more than 150 million copies sold.

The story follows Tanjiro, a boy whose family was massacred by a demon. He joins the demon slayers in order to find a way for his sister Nezuko, the sole survivor of the attack, to become human again.

The franchise had already made a foray into cinemas with Mugen Train. The film, released on May 19, 2021, had gathered more than 727,000 spectators.

In Japan, the work even became the biggest box office success in the country’s history, ahead of behemoths like Spirited Away, Frozen, Titanic, Avatar and Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. In total, Mugen Train has collected $453 million at the global box office!

As of now, no release date has been announced for the Infinite Fortress trilogy. In the meantime, the entire anime is available on the Crunchyroll platform.
