“Stubai Ultratrail” – Tyrol: Running event ended after fatal fall

On Saturday, the “Stubai Ultratrail” running event in Tyrol was overshadowed by a fatal fall and then stopped. As the organizer, the Stubai Tourist Association, announced in the afternoon, around 1 p.m. in the area of ​​the Falbesoner Nockalm, a participant fell for reasons that are still unclear. The athlete then fell about 30 meters. According to the police, it is a 47-year-old Dutchman.

The rescue workers from the medical team and the mountain rescue team, who arrived five minutes after the alarm was raised, continued the first aid that had already been initiated by the participants. A little later, however, the emergency doctor could only determine the death of the runner. The competitions were canceled out of respect for the deceased and the family at the decision of the crisis management team. The “Stubai Ultratrail” would have led in five different up to 3,000 m altitude, where the goal is on the Stubai Glacier.
