Memories of the VZ networks are all that remains for former users from April. At the turn of the month, StudiVZ and MeinVZ will close.

StudiVZ and MeinVZ are probably dead for good. The social networks will close on March 31, 2022, as stated on both websites. The operator Poolworks has announced that both StudiVZ as also MeinVZ be switched off. The little sister StudentVZ had already been closed in April 2013.

StudiVZ was originally founded in 2005. Several years ago, other platforms had already overtaken the VZ networks – at a time when even Facebook was still popular among younger people. And who would even want to sneer or exchange experiences during their studies when they can also follow the stars on Instagram and publish funny TikToks?

Once upon a time there were 16 million members

In its heyday, the VZ networks brought it together according to the information provided by the operator at the time to around 16 million members. More than six million of them were active every day in 2010, sending up to 13 million messages. In the end it was only a fraction of that. In 2015 the number was already around one million active users decreased.

In 2017, the VZ team announced that they had filed for bankruptcy. The operation of StudiVZ and MeinVZ should be continued, but at the turn of the month it is now completely over. However, users can continue to play browser games that were previously offered on the platforms elsewhere with their saves.
