So much for whole grains, Pilates and lots of sleep: current research says we should take our girls out if we want to stay fit. And not just once a week.

Research is really a great thing, especially when it brings us results like this: A study of the University of Oxford says that we should regularly meet up with our girlfriends to go out. At least twice a week.

Stronger immune system, less anxiety

Secretly, we always knew that being with our girlfriends can only be good for us, but this has been scientifically confirmed to us that drinking beer, gossiping and exchanging ideas about opponents (these factors were actually taken into account) are super healthy for us is.

According to the study, meeting for a beer or Prosecco brings women the following health benefits: They recover more quickly from illnesses, have a stronger immune system and less anxiety. Overall, to sum up, dating their girlfriends makes women feel more stable and better.

The more responsibility we have, the more we need friendship

This does not only apply to women, by the way. dr Robin Dunbar, the psychologist responsible for the study, said Huffington Post: “For both sexes, a large, well-integrated social network has a significant impact on physical and emotional health. Unfortunately, people with more extensive networks have less disease, recover more quickly from surgery, and are less likely to die early.”

However, there is evidence that, on average, women need interpersonal relationships even more than men do in order to be happy. Researchers are certain that bonding with others boosts serotonin and oxytocin levels – and that the more stressful and responsible we carry in life, the more we need relationships with others.

Laughter is important!

Incidentally, according to the study, the “healthiest” are meetings with close friends where more than five women are present. Why? Because then apparently more jokes are made and there is more laughter – and laughter is the decisive criterion for the relaxation and the health factor of the meetings with the “girls”.

Not that we didn’t plan on dating our girlfriends anyway, but now we take them even more seriously. For the sake of our health, of course.
