Do you drink your coffee with milk and sugar? Or would you prefer to be black as the night? According to a study, your drinking behavior says a lot about your mental life – you can find out more in the video!

Whether you drink your coffee black, with milk or sugar has so far been a matter of taste. Like researchers from the University of Innsbruck now in a study found out, however, there lies a deeper meaning behind your drinking habits.

Study: black coffee = black soul?

As the research suggests, people with psychopathic behaviors prefer coffee that is black. A psychopath is defined here as a person who has a tendency towards everyday sadism, narcissism and aggression. Around 500 participants were asked about their tastes by the scientists, and they then completed four different personality tests.

The result: everyday sadism and other psychopathic properties were consistently associated with people who prefer bitter nuances. This also means that psychopaths are into gin and tonic, dark chocolate and beer. Conversely, this means that sympathetic and cooperative people do not like bitter substances in food.

Does that mean that we are all supposed psychopaths if we are into bitter substances? We find: As long as the connection between psychopathy and bitter foods is unclear and unproven, we will continue to drink our black coffee – and skilfully ignore the first psychopathic tendencies.
