Study: this is the most common love dream and its meaning

Well, what happens in your dreams that involve you and your sweetheart …? You can find out here whether you are in good company with it and what typical relationship dreams mean, according to experts.

Dreaming is important to our physical and mental health. Experts assume that we process experiences in our dreams and sort out our feelings. Even if dream interpretation is dismissed by some people as humbug and fortune-telling, there is more than one reason to assume that our dreams can reveal something about us and show us, for example, what concerns us unconsciously.

The British mattress supplier "The Dozy Owl" asked almost 3,600 people in a relationship about their dreams of love: Do you dream of your relationship and your sweetheart at night? And if so: what are you dreaming about in detail? 76 percent of the test persons answered the first question with a clear "Yes!" – they have dreamed of their partnership within the last seven days. An overview of the most common dreams and what they mean according to the dream interpreters from "Psychicworld" consulted:

The six most common love dreams and what they mean

1. Partner has affair with the ex

72 percent of the people surveyed by "The Dozy Owl" recently dreamed of being cheated on by their sweetheart and his ex. According to this survey, this is the most common dream relationship of all. According to experts, the motive could indicate uncertainties that we have in our relationship. Do we feel neglected by our partner? Or do we have low self-confidence? In some cases a third person could also play a role, who we see unconsciously or consciously threatened our partnership.

2. Partner breaks up

64 percent of the test subjects reported having dreamed that their favorite person was leaving them. Surprisingly, the experts ascribe a positive meaning to this dream, as it could reflect the feeling that the next step is pending in the relationship. It is almost time to end the current phase and ring in the next – for example with the help of wedding bells or a pregnancy.

3. A child is on the way

Speaking of pregnancy: This is the third most common dream according to this survey, which 61 percent of respondents named. This dream is also to be understood as positive, even if no baby is actually planned and the thought of it triggers panic. The child can be interpreted as a symbol for new ideas or projects, with the partner playing the role of the supporter and the person who brings them on the way. So if we dream of an expected baby, there is a lot to suggest that we will feel safe and comfortable in our relationship.

4. Arguing

In the fourth place of the most frequent love dreams landed in the survey with 59 percent the motive quarrel. The experts consulted see this as an indication that some conflict is simmering in us or that we are suppressing certain feelings that we should carry out or talk about with our sweetheart.

5. Sex

"Only" 53 percent of those questioned had sex dreams with their sweetheart, but what that suggests remains open: Either, according to experts, if we dream of sex with our partner, it can mean that we have sex fantasies that we have not yet communicated openly, but that we might like to live out. Plus, sex dreams can be a sign that we desire our significant other on a metaphysical level too. In this case, the experts attribute a bond-strengthening effect to the motif.

6. Partner dies

46 percent of those surveyed know the nightmare that their partner dies from their own experience. According to experts, it is often an expression of the fear – caution, surprise on the approach – of losing the other. Changes that we have noticed in our treasure and that cause us concern may also play a role.

Dreams can only be interpreted in detail if the concrete situation and personality of the person who dreams are taken into account. But if one of the aforementioned relationship dreams sounds familiar to us, we now have at least a suggestion in which direction we can go within ourselves.
