Mini skirts, high heels and extreme crop tops are pieces that can contribute to self-empowerment. But also long skirts, high-necked dresses and oversized looks!

If we take a look back at the runways of this year’s summer collections, one thing in particular stands out: Tight, tighter, Miu Miu. The label set the tone by quickly capturing the Gen-Z zeitgeist: Y2K fashion. For those who need to google it (and I heard about this a few months ago): Year 2000 Thousand. Shaped by Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie escapades, the remnants of the tribals on the tailbone, plateaus, flashing strings and navel piercings.

While some are reminded of times they would like to forget again, others wallow in the nostalgia of an era they never experienced. That’s how it works in the fashion world. The best part? She gives self-empowerment. That means something like: If you can’t do anything with the trend, then that’s not bad at all. Because where a trend pops up, a counter-movement follows. Or just the longing for calm waters. That’s why there is an anti-trend right away – and it’s going towards high-necked parts.

High-necked: the styling counterpart to tight looks

Can high closed be defined?

In a nutshell: the décolleté is not put on display. For example by choosing the collar height. Turtlenecks, but also shirt dresses are probably the first that come to mind. And yes, they are standard wardrobe items. Whether with a hoodie and sneakers or combined with overknee boots – the styling options have something to offer for every occasion. And the freedom of movement can be adjusted accordingly. With a button more or less. By the way: Another alternative is a detachable collar, like that of actress Jodie Smith.

matter of interpretation

Sometimes the collar is literally bursting: We need air, nothing tight around the neck. “High-necked” is therefore always a matter of interpretation and depends on our individual needs. However, the basic idea remains the same: wear something covering. If you don’t want to wear turtlenecks, look around for dresses with a round neckline. With a subtle V-cut in it, the décolleté does show through, but in moderation.

Do we have to wait until winter?

You might think so, but no. The woolen dress with a turtleneck doesn’t have to be rummaged around – although that can certainly change in the course of climate change. Until then, however, high-necked dresses with airy cuts, made of materials such as linen, for example, are a good idea. Burberry inspires us to venture into transparency inserts: Dressed but revealing at the same time. To soften the latter and at the same time give the look a highlight, simply layer with colorful tops.
