Styrian overview – Only in four of 286 parishes was Rosencrantz ahead

Incumbent Alexander Van der Bellen was number 1 in the federal presidential election in almost all Styrian communities. He achieved an outstanding result in Graz, but he most likely had weaknesses in the border regions. Walter Rosenkranz (FPÖ) was ahead in four municipalities. An overview.

The map of Styria is green on this election Sunday: Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen is in first place in 282 of 286 municipalities – albeit with a very different lead. FPÖ candidate Walter Rosenkranz can take the top spot in four municipalities: in Oberhaag and Leutschach (Leibnitz district), in Sinabelkirchen (Weiz district) and also in Unterlamm in south-east Styria, where Rosenkranz achieved his best result with 38.6 percent. Almost two-thirds in Graz for Van der BellenBack to Alexander Van der Bellen: Compared to 2016, his strongholds have hardly changed. In the provincial capital of Graz, the 78-year-old won almost two-thirds of the votes with 64.7 percent; things are only going better in the neighboring municipality ofSTATTEGG with 68.2 percent. In general, the region east of Graz to Weiz is colored deep green, as well as the Ausseerland and some of the municipalities in the Wechselland. The response is also great in Neuberg, where Van der Bellen has his second official residence in Mürzsteg Castle: 58.5 percent. The weakest result is Leutschach with just 31.3 percent.Rosary beads strong in the border regionThe candidates on the right spectrum tend to do better in southern and western Styria. For example, FPÖ man Walter Rosenkranz achieved several results above 30 percent, especially in the south of the districts of Deutschlandsberg (Eibiswald, Wies, Bad Schwanberg, Pölfing-Brunn) and Leibnitz (including Ehrenhausen, Gamlitz). He is also exceptionally strong in East Styrian Hartl with 34.1 percent: Six years ago this was a stronghold of the then liberal candidate Norbert Hofer. Gerald Grosz – a native of West Styria – also achieved his best results in the districts of Deutschlandsberg, Leibnitz and Voitsberg. One community stands out: In St. Andrä-Höch there are 25.3% of the votes. In his home town of Graz, on the other hand, it is only five percent for the political blogger. Only 21.5 percent turnout in Niederwölz The results of lawyer Tassilo Wallentin show a different geographical focus: his popularity is highest in Upper Styria. In the districts of Bruck-Mürzzuschlag, Leoben, Murtal and Murau he gets more than ten percent. The top result: 17 percent in Niederwölz. The turnout there is incredibly low at 21.5 percent – the Maxlaun festival took place on Sunday and the masses stormed it. Although he achieved his best result with 5.7 percent in Haselsdorf-Tobelbad in a municipality with a rather average corona vaccination rate – he also achieved strong results in Michaelerberg-Pruggern (5.3%) and Sinabelkirchen (3.7%). . These are the municipalities with the lowest corona vaccination rate in Styria.Dominik Wlazny is considered an urban phenomenon – this is only partially true in Styria. Although 8.8 percent in Graz and 9.6 percent in Leoben are above average, Wlazny surprisingly found the best results in two rural communities in eastern Styria: 11.9 percent in St. Lorenzen am Wechsel and 11 percent in St. Johann in der Haide. No vote for Staudinger in three municipalitiesHeinrich Staudinger, a shoe entrepreneur, is hardly a factor. Things are going particularly badly for him in the small communities of Stiwoll, Radmer and Vordernberg: He doesn’t get a single vote here! His best result: Hohentauern with 5.3 percent.
