Successful merge on Sepolia testnet

Operation successful: With the merger of the proof-of-work chain and the proof-of-stake chain in the Sepolia testnet on Ethereum, the ETH developers have taken an important step towards the network update. Yesterday, Wednesday, both the validators of the proof-of-work and the proof-of-stake chain, also known as the beacon chain, uploaded the update to the testnet.

However, the merging of the chains did not go entirely smoothly. About 25 percent of the nodes went offline shortly after the update. The reason was “wrong configurations”, according to developer Terence Tsao.

Now only the dress rehearsal with the merger of the Goerli testnet is pending. It is still unclear when Ethereum will actually switch to Proof-of-Stake. But it should happen this year.
