A follower of an immersive game method, Jeremy Strong revealed that he improvised a totally suicidal gesture during the filming of the last episode of the series “Succession”.

Please note, the following details the plot of the latest episode of the Succession series, available on Amazon Prime Video via the Warner Pass. If you haven’t seen it yet, and don’t want to know anything about its content, then you are strongly recommended to stop reading this article now.

A few weeks ago, ahead of the launch of Season 4 of Succession, Brian Cox reiterated his criticisms of his colleague Jeremy Strong, a follower of a game method consisting of not leaving his character during the whole of a shoot.

In the past, actors from the HBO series had already mentioned the work habits of the American comedian. The latter had notably refused to speak to them during the entire filming of the third season, because his character was then cold with his brother Roman (Kieran Culkin) and his sister Shiv (Sarah Snook).

This immersive method is not without danger, and Jeremy Strong confirmed it during an interview with Vanity Fair on the sidelines of the broadcast of the very last episode of the series. The interpreter of Kendall revealed to have been close to death by improvising the suicide of his character, during the filming of the ultimate plan featuring him in this episode.

I was drawn to water. I wanted to throw myself into the river at the end of a take, I got up from the bench I was sitting on and went as fast as possible towards the barrier, but the actor who plays Colin caught up.

During this final series, Kendall sees the accession to the head of the family business escape him by one vote. Betrayed by his own sister, the latter is shown during this final scene alone on a bench on the banks of the Hudson River, his gaze lost on the horizon.

His suicidal thoughts are only hinted at, but were nonetheless enough for Jeremy Strong to attempt this totally insane improvisation. “I don’t know what got into me, and neither did he, but he ran to stop me. I don’t know if I thought at that moment that Kendall wanted to die or if I wanted to be saved by someone close to his father.”

Filming for Succession didn’t end on this scene, but on a sequence set earlier in which Kendall is “crowned” by Roman and Shiv.

The unsavory mixture prepared by the latter was actually eaten by Jeremy Strong, who also let his head be shaved by his playing partners once the final sequence was put in a box.

The four seasons of Succession can be found now on the Warner Pass, available as an option on Amazon Prime Video.
