Such a big sun: why the soap opera will no longer be broadcast on Thursdays until April 7

For the past few weeks, Un si grand soleil has been missing on Thursdays. And this should be the case until April. Find out why.

viewer habitssuch a big sun are upset. Since February 10, the soap opera of France 2 is no longer broadcast on Thursdays, either in its usual box or even in the rest of the day. The series worn by Mélanie Maudran goes by the wayside. In question ? The 2022 presidential campaign. Eight weeks from the first round, the public service channel has strengthened its political programming. Thereby, Elysee 2022 became Elysée 2022: against France Télévisions. In addition to the title of the show, a few changes are to be counted.

Already in its rhythm of diffusion. The program, presented by Léa Salamé and Laurent Guimier, generally monthly is now weekly. Each candidate for the highest office is thus subject to a “complete 360° review of its program and proposals for France“, boasts the channel. They face thematic interviews conducted by other faces of the group or even a duel with a personality who makes the news. Above all, Léa Salamé and the director of information of France Televisions take the antenna earlier than usual. Either at the end of the television news, therefore between around 8:40 p.m. and 8:45 p.m., against a bonus which usually begins around 9:10 p.m. For example, after Jean-Luc Mélenchon and Yannick Jadot, this Thursday February 24, it will be the turn of Marine Le Pen to rub shoulders with the exercise – this Thursday February 24, the show was finally postponed, in favor of a special program devoted to the Ukrainian crisis, still hosted by Léa Salamé and Laurent Guimier.

An operation that will continue until April

This operation, France 2 will maintain it at least until the first round of the election, taking its public service mission very seriously and having at heart to give the French people all the keys so that they can make their choice. A debate between the two rounds is also likely to be scheduled. There is no question of depriving the fans ofsuch a big sun of their series. In order to compensate for this lack of broadcast, the channel makes up for it on Saturday, by unveiling a new episode. A few exceptions should however be noted. This is particularly the case for the week of March 7. That week, Elysée 2022: against France Télévisions will be broadcast not on Thursday but on Tuesday. On Tuesday March 8, there will therefore be no episode ofsuch a big sun, just like Friday 11 since the Six Nations tournament will be privileged. However, only one episode is scheduled for Saturday March 12 and none on Sunday.
