Seven years after the young girl victim of harassment ended her life in Calvados, a former boyfriend of Juliette was heard by the court on Tuesday January 17, 2023.

How can people in their early twenties want to end their lives? Unfortunately, cases of suicide even affect adolescents who are sometimes victims of bullying at school. A terrible event which obviously constitutes the drama of a life for parents whose feeling of guilt is difficult to erase.

On March 3, 2016, the suicide of Juliette, a young girl just aged 15, shocked the inhabitants of Lisieux, in Calvados. The teenager, victim of school harassment, ended her life by throwing herself under a train. The little girl did not support the massive dissemination on the internet of photos of her naked. Almost 7 years after the events, a former boyfriend of Juliette was put on trial. The latter is accused of having transmitted said photos to a high school student with whom the deceased girl was at the time in conflict. A file sharing that took place a few days before the teenager decided to end her life.

A voluntary transmission

This young man had private photos he had taken with Juliette on his phone. Images stolen in 2014 by a rival of the teenager in order to disseminate them massively. At the time, the young man was therefore not responsible, but a few years later, another rival of Juliette asked him to send these photos. And the young man ran.

“He knew, however, that Juliette had suffered a first wave of harassment because of these photos and that she had suffered a lot. When this young woman asked him to send her the photos, he knew perfectly well her malicious intentions » recalled Christophe Bogliolo for the public ministry. A point on which rebounds Me Inès Herzog, lawyer for the civil party: “He could very well have replied that he no longer had them. There, he made the choice to transmit them”. During the investigation, the photos of no less than 37 former girlfriends, “more or less naked” were found on the young man’s computer.

Surrounded by a loving family, Juliette was described as a sporty and bright young girl. Despite the two waves of harassment suffered, the teenager never let anything show. Several testimonies, however, report daily insults during the 4th and 3rd years of the young girl at the Michelet college in Lisieux. Six months suspended prison sentence was requested by the prosecution against the young man who shared the photos, the final decision of the court is expected on February 14, 2023.
