Din recent years, the scooter has conquered the hearts of older children as a means of everyday transport. Only, whether electric or not, these are not authorized on roads where the speed limit is greater than 50 km/h. A prohibition which this young man of 29 years ignored, Saturday evening February 4, as our colleagues from France Bleu Picardie tell us.

The man was arrested by the gendarmerie after being reported as traveling on the A1 motorway, which connects Paris to Lille, riding a scooter. When the police arrived, the driver had just taken an exit near Maurepas, in the Somme. Sitting on a bench, he seemed “disoriented”, “like in a daze”, according to our colleagues. He was taken to hospital.

A behavior that could have cost him his life. In August 2019, a scooter driver was fatally hit by a biker on the A86 motorway, in the Yvelines. In 2022, 34 scooter riders lost their lives compared to 10 in 2019.
