Basil lemon squash

For my summer cocktail recipe you need the following ingredients:

  • 4-5 large leaves of fresh basil
  • 1/2 lemon slice
  • 1-2 cucumber slices
  • 2-3 ice cubes
  • 4 cl white wine
  • 100 ml dry sparkling wine
  • 100 ml sparkling mineral water

preparation

  1. Pluck a few basil leaves from your plant and rinse them quickly under water. If you don’t have basil, you can also use mint.
  2. Wash a lemon or lime and a cucumber under running water and cut off a slice of cucumber and lemon. Halve the lemon slice and put it aside for now.
  3. Now put 2-3 ice cubes in a tall glass along with the basil leaves and the cucumber and lemon slices and add a few splashes of lemon juice. If you don’t have a fresh lemon or lime at home, a shot of lemon juice from the bottle or a little bit of lemon concentrate works well.
  4. Finally, add the white wine and top it all up with sparkling wine and sparkling water. Ideally, the drinks should be well chilled – that’s how they taste best.

Tip: If you prefer it sweeter, you can add a teaspoon of agave syrup. The sweet and sour mix is simply wonderfully refreshing.

A little break for you

Now you can enjoy it and enjoy your own little break. Because five minutes of me-time should definitely be included every day. Even if you don’t have to drink alcohol every day, you can still make yourself comfortable once a day and toast yourself, because you are simply amazing!

Cocktail variant: This is how it becomes alcohol-free

Basil lemon squash also tastes great in the non-alcoholic version: simply replace white wine and sparkling wine with lemon or elderberry lemonade and enjoy your personal holiday feeling.

Vivi’s top tip

So that you can bring that cocktail holiday feeling into your home at any time, I always recommend something – especially in the summer months Mint, basil and rosemary to have at home. Also Lemon or lime slices are an absolute for me Summer must and can always be found in my kitchen.

If you want to be on the safe side, just freeze a supply. The cocktail ingredients are then always available frozen and also serve as ice cubes. You can put the herbs together with the citrus slices in a freezer bag or can and store them in the freezer until you feel like cocktailing again. So nothing ever stands in the way of a spontaneous barbecue evening with friends. After all, everyone has good wine and a bottle of champagne at home, right?!
