Summer holidays: where are the French going this year?

SWithout health restrictions, the French are free to travel during these summer holidays. Inflation and declining purchasing power do not seem to impact their plans either. According to our colleagues from Europe 1, seven out of ten French people have planned to go to the seaside in Europe, to usual destinations, but they do not intend to go too far from home. Country stays are doing well this summer.

Nearly nine million French people have already booked their holidays abroad. The most popular vacation spots remain fairly classic in 2022, the Canary Islands, Crete, the Balearic Islands and Tunisia. Seaside destinations in Europe and even North Africa are still popular. “There is a stronger enthusiasm for medium-haul destinations, in particular for fear of another wave of Covid, for fear of being stranded abroad”, notes Jean-Pierre Mas, president of Travel Companies. , interviewed by Europe 1.

Holidays in France

Not all French people will travel abroad this year. Many people will stay in France, in Aquitaine or on the Côte d’Azur, in order to enjoy the French beaches. Stays in the countryside are gaining in popularity thanks to a desire for “authentic holidays”, deciphers François de Canson, president of ADN Tourisme. “French people who go on holiday want an authentic holiday. There are natural places, places where you can rest and recharge your batteries. We are in the preservation of the environment. »
