Sun or snow?: These are the places where celebrities spend Christmas

From Christmas romance to sunny breaks – the prominent guests at the “Movie meets Media” event reveal their Christmas goals.

On December 4th, the “Movie meets Media” event series celebrated its 70th birthday in Hamburg with around 600 guests. Numerous stars trudged through the deep snow into the festively decorated Hotel Atlantic, and many of them were already feeling Christmassy. The celebrities happily shared their Christmas and vacation plans for the holidays.

“I’m very pleased that we can celebrate ‘Movie meets Media’ again in such a carefree manner in this large setting,” said host and initiator Sören Bauer, together with the new cooperation partner Aida Cruises, welcoming the guests. “It is a special evening that is all about wishes and visions,” continued Bauer.

Singer Marc Terenzi (45) and presenter Verena Kerth (42) appeared to be completely happy because they were radiant, relaxed and in a good mood. The two recently made headlines with a fake wedding in Las Vegas. “I would never get married without my mom present,” reveals Kerth, who has a particularly close relationship with her mother and will celebrate Christmas with her and Marc in the Austrian mountains. The wedding experience – even if it wasn’t meant entirely seriously – was still “exciting, beautiful and a dream,” says Kerth. You joined the ranks of great legends like Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Angelina Jolie and “that felt good!” assures Terenzi.

Ruth Moschner is pulling the consumer plug

Presenter Ruth Moschner (47) beamed with a glittery jacket, but above all with her good mood. “It’s deep within me,” she says. “When I was born I almost died due to complications, but when it was all over the first thing I did was smile at the doctor…” However, Christmas doesn’t put Moschner in a good mood. The presenter with Jewish ancestors decided 25 years ago to “just pull the plug” because of the high consumption. That was often just too much stress for me before the festival. Since then, she has simply let the Christmas days come to her: “It relaxes me a lot!”

Actress Jenny Elvers (51), who appeared at the party in long red “Santa Claus boots” and accompanied by her 22-year-old son Paul Jolig, comes out as a “big, kitsch-loving” Christmas fan. Elvers seemed in a good mood and fit after her alcohol relapse in October: “If I wasn’t feeling well, I wouldn’t have come,” she clarifies. Elvers has already decorated her Hamburg home lavishly and reveals: “From Christmas sweaters to Christmas cookies to Christmas films, we have the full program every year!” Everyone is welcome on Christmas Day: “It’s open house for me that day.” An idea that she took over from star hairdresser Udo Walz, who died in 2020, “to take care of everyone who needs it at Christmas.” After the holidays, Elvers is planning a nice, sunny cruise to the Caribbean on one of the AIDA ships.

TV star Marek Erhardt (54) also likes it warm and cozy at Christmas. For him, Christmas is “the most wonderful time of the year,” which is also when he develops perfectionist traits. “Last year I had three trees to look at at my house just to choose the best one,” he laughs. A selected menu for all three holidays – fondue, goose, salmon – has already been organized. On Christmas Eve his two daughters are there, but also his ex-wife and her new boyfriend. The actor is still looking for a new love and takes it with humor: “For now, I’m sitting by the fireplace with a glass of red wine.”

Prince Frédéric von Anhalt: Back to Germany from LA for Christmas

Prince Frédéric von Anhalt (80) was enthusiastic about snow and the Hotel Atlantic: “In Los Angeles everything is just fake – artificial snow, the lighting. It looks good for the photo, but nothing more,” he complains. That’s why he celebrates Christmas in Germany: “Everything is real here! The tradition, the snow. And even the Christmas carols are played properly.”

Christmas is a double celebration for presenter Nova Meierhenrich (49), as the actress turns 50 on December 25th. The celebration is with the three younger brothers, many nieces and nephews and the parents. She laughs: “I already said: You can’t let me down! There has to be a party!” The enthusiastic camper, who also travels alone in her large van, mainly through Scandinavia, dreams of a winter holiday in Iceland: “I’ve been out in a snowstorm when it was minus 20 degrees. No problem for me, I’m a child of nature.” But seeing the northern lights on the North Cape is worth it, says Meierhenrich.

Model Markus Schenkenberg (55) is also heading north, celebrating with his son and his mother and family in his native Sweden. “In Sweden, Christmas traditionally includes ham, meatballs, herring and potatoes, and chocolate for dessert,” explains Schenkenberg. After the holidays, he’s going to Florida to film, and he’s also planning a road trip to Los Angeles on his motorcycle.

Whether Dubai or Miami – the main thing is sun

Former gymnast Magdalena Brzeska (45) is in Dubai at the end of December for an international competition and will stay in the Arab metropolis over Christmas. The cosmopolitan athlete spends her days in the hotel with friends and above all wants to “enjoy the sun” there.

“Not Dubai again,” was the announcement for “Notruf Hafenkante” actress Rhea Harder-Vennewald (47). After Christmas, the family of five is going to sunny Miami this time. Before that, on Christmas Eve, there is a very traditional celebration with the whole family at the grandparents’ near Bielefeld – “with church and a long walk through the forest. And then wait for the presents to be handed out until grandpa rings the bell…”

Actress Claudia Rieschel (73) came with her friend and colleague Simone Rethel-Heesters (74). Rieschel is planning a trip to Brazil this year, where he will support the non-profit project “Costura”, which creates jobs for women through sewing. Rethel-Heesters, wife of Johannes Heesters (1903-2011), is celebrating a “very loud Christmas” with her family and four generations. We are a very spirited family. At Christmas there is only a minute of silence – but this is very conscious: “We burn sparklers together and silently remember those who have died in the family.”

In order to fulfill the last wishes of seriously ill people, “Movie meets Media” held an art auction for the “Wishes Car Campaign” with works by, among others, Udo Lindenberg (77) and Otto Waalkes (75), which raised 14,000 euros. Afterwards there was a lively celebration for a good cause in the ballroom until the early hours of the morning. “Voice of Germany” singer Michael Schulte (33) and star DJ Kai Schwarz provided good sound on stage.
