The first shows a New Zealand crime thriller on Sunday instead of the talk show “Anne Will”. This is the reason behind it.

Once again, fans of the talk show “Anne Will” will be watching the tube. Because, as was the case last in mid-October, the broadcast will also be canceled on this Sunday evening (November 14th) on the first. Again a crime thriller from the “Brokenwood – Mord in New Zealand” series will be shown on the slot – in German for the first time. And on December 19 (Sunday), Anne Wills (55) will be able to see something different when the eight-part series “Legal Affairs” starts at 9:45 pm on Das Erste. But why is the talk show canceled?

Would the moderator like to cut back? Are you having trouble finding guests or topics? Or should the talk even be stopped? “I can answer all of these three questions with a clear no,” said the press office of the ARD program directorate when asked by spot on news.

A very simple math problem

Instead, the reason for the failures and replacement programs is a simple arithmetic task: “The ARD commissions the production company for a certain number of programs per year: not 52, but about 30. This number is not enough to broadcast an ‘Anne Will ‘broadcast, “says the broadcaster. And further: “Rather, it is planned that the format, the team and the moderator will pause in summer and winter.” The spokesman adds that the editorial team is always in a position to react flexibly to the current political situation.

This is what the New Zealand crime thriller is all about

If you want to shudder after the “Tatort: Die Kalten und die Toten” (November 14th, 8:15 pm, Das Erste) from Berlin from 9:45 pm, the mystery film “Brokenwood – Murder in New Zealand: You shall not kill “(2017) on the program.

In the second film of the new season, leading actor Neill Rea (born 1971) alias Detective Mike Shepherd takes a journey back in time to the 19th century. In “You Shall Not Kill” he has to solve a subtle murder in the historic museum village of Brokenwood, in which it comes to atonement for a previous crime. When questioning the suspects, investigators look behind the scenes of the popular leisure attraction and encounter a number of conflicts.

Fern Sutherland (34) moves into the center of the episode as Detective Sims, who takes over the investigation after an accident of her boss. DC Breen and the pathologist Gina – played by Nic Sampson (34) and Cristina Ionda (born 1983) – also go out of their way to solve the mysterious case.

When the next two thrillers of the fourth season – in the original with the title additions “The Scarecrow” and “As If Nothing Had Happened” – will be broadcast has not yet been determined. To date, six seasons have been shot.
