Sunset Overdrive: fans ask for a PlayStation port, Insomniac Games responds

If the story ofInsomniac Games is very linked to Sonythe studio having developed the Spyro, Ratchet & Clank And Resistancehe also looked elsewhere with Fuse (EA Games) and especially Sunset Overdrive, a title published by Microsoft and exclusive to Xbox One (even if a PC port arrived years later).

But here, in 2019, Sony announced the acquisition ofInsomniac Gamesrecovering all its franchises in the process, even Sunset Overdrive. The manufacturer of PlayStation even registered the trademark a year later, only to do nothing with it. Insomniac Games is currently celebrating his 30th birthday, so he shared on social networks a short extract from Sunset Overdrive to praise its reappearance animations after death. An Internet user did not fail to ask the studio why wouldn’t he do a port or remaster of the game on PS4 or PS5? Well the answer is simple:

We’re busy with Marvel’s Wolverine!

Eh yes, Insomniac Games is going all out on its next action and adventure game with the famous X-Men of the universe Marvel, he doesn’t have time for anything else. Anyway, the leak which had touched the studio last year did not mention such a project concerning Sunset Overdrive.

Anyway, even if Sony has the franchise Sunset Overdrive, It’s good Microsoft which has all the rights to the original opus and even publishing rights for two sequels! Concerning a port or remaster of the first part, it will therefore be necessary to negotiate with the manufacturer of the Xbox. Given the current trend of Microsoft who carries his games on PlayStation and Switch, this remains imaginable in the future, but probably not with Insomniac Games development, given its very busy program until 2032.

Luckily, if you have a PC, an Xbox One, or even an Xbox Series X|S, Sunset Overdrive remains playable, it is even available from €2.99 on Amazon, Cdiscount, Fnac And Gamesplanet.
