Super Bowl 2022: tattoos, “Shaq”, dog paw… all about Odell Beckham Jr

Big star of the Los Angeles Rams, Odell Beckham Jr is playing his very first Super Bowl this Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Here’s everything you need to know about him.

First Super Bowl

At 29, and for his eighth season in the NFL, Odell Beckham Jr will therefore experience his very first high mass. Pretty amazing for the Rams’ star receiver who has always been considered a true talent in American football and has therefore never won a Super Bowl.

Obama and Tyson tattoos

Former Cleveland player Odell Beckham Jr is a big fan of tattoos. He would have 86. Just that. And above all, he has many personalities stuck to his body. The list is quite long since he notably has Barack Obama, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X, Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tupac Shakur, Muhammad Ali, Kobe Bryant or even Evander Holyfield who bites Mike Tyson’s ear. In the middle of all this, there are Roman numerals for the birthdays of his parents or a cross for his faith.

“Nephew” by Shaquille O’Neal

Odell Beckham Jr is very close to Shaquille O’Neal, former NBA star of the Los Angeles Lakers in particular. His father attended the University of Louisiana (as did his mother) and was around the “Shaq”. They remained very close and the two families are still friends. So much so that the Rams receiver considers the ex-NBA player as his uncle.

He trained with the Manning brothers

Odell Beckham Jr had the chance to train with big NFL stars like Peyton and Eli Manning. While in Louisiana, the two brothers asked coach Nelson Stewart of Newman School (where Beckham Jr was) if a few players were available for drills. The coach sent them Odell. And the two brothers were very impressed.

A Guinness World Record in 2015

On January 29, 2015, during a show on ESPN, Odell Beckham Jr set a new record for the number of single-handed receptions in 1 minute. He caught the ball 33 times, 10 better than the old record. But that record was short-lived as on May 6, 2015, Andy Fantuz of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats had 50 one-handed receptions in one minute.

Chain with his dog’s paw

In 2016, Odell Beckham Jr lost his dog, Tzar. A death that affected the player who spoke about it publicly. To pay homage to him, he has a personalized chain with a pendant in the shape of a dog’s paw.
