3 rounds in the Super League 2022/23 were scheduled. They are not fully played yet. Nevertheless, we deliver material for statistics fans in 5 chapters.
FC Zurich: Bad, worse, worst
After completing three laps, the FCZ is already on fire under the roof. Because since the introduction of the Super League, a reigning champion has never left the starting blocks so ineffectively in the following season (see table below). Since the 2003/04 season, every title holder has had at least one full success after 3 games. But at FC Zurich – the current bottom of the league, by the way – the zero is not only in the number of wins, but also in the number of goals (not) scored after 270 minutes. Thus, the unflattering record of 1 point and one Goal difference of 0:6 almost the counterpart of the start of the season in the summer of 2007, when after the 10th championship title in the club’s history it continued seamlessly with a flawless start (9 points, 8-0 goals).

Cheers to the double packers
The two-time goal scorers got underway almost without any start-up time this season. After the 12 goals on the 1st matchday were shared between 12 different players (including one own goal), we are now there to help 5 double packers – and especially FC St. Gallen in a profitable duo.
- Fabian Schubert – the Austrian scored both goals in a 2-0 win over Winterthur a week ago.
- Wilfried Kanga – with a fit of energy, the 24-year-old gave his Young Boys a decisive 2-0 lead against Sion by the 6th minute (see following chapter).
- Hayao Kawabe – GC owes its 2:1 start win in the Letzigrund against Lugano solely to the finishing strength of the Japanese.
- Zan Celar – the Slovene scored in Winterthur in the 20th minute to make it 1-1 and from a penalty point in Lugano’s first win of the season made it 4-1.
- Julian von Moss – Another double and another St. Gallen: The number 11 of the FCSG shoots champion Zurich almost single-handedly into misery.
Prima vista, 5 two-time goal scorers are a decent intermediate value. And yet this fades when you look at the previous season: Because back then, the overture, YB’s 4: 3 at FC Luzern, with Meschack Elia, Pascal Schürpf and Jordan Siebatcheu, brought 3 (!) double goalscorers. In the third round, Basel’s Arthur Cabral spoiled us with a four pack.
Adieu Kanga – and the YB goals are sorely missed
Cross-competitive blossomed Wilfried Kanga Early in the season he became the top scorer (3 goals/1 assist) of the Young Boys. But since Saturday it has been clear that the 24-year-old will go hunting for goals in the Bundesliga for Hertha Berlin in the future – and thus with the local rival of his former teammate Jordan Siebatcheu, who was drawn to Union. There was no time left for a farewell gift for yellow-black due to the hasty transfer of Kangas. Rather, his departure tore a first gap in the YB attack, which was nominally strong on paper. In game 1 without him in the 1:1 in Wankdorf against the Grasshoppers, only Jean-Pierre Nsame was able to score a goal. The other 21 Bernese degrees and 6 attempts at the opposing goal resulted nothing countable more – instead the first YB point loss of the 2022/23 Super League season.
Unbeaten quintet – a little window dressing
5 teams – YB, Servette, GC, Basel and Lucerne – still had to no defeat in the young season accept. This is very unusual, but not due to a new balance in the Super League. Because instead of the 15 originally planned matches, only 13 could be contested. The different number of games therefore leads to this distorted picture. And because FC Luzern has only played one game, the only result (0-0 at FC Zurich) is no crazy feat…
Winterthur: Is it all over already?
The newly promoted star was celebrated for the first impression he made on his return to the Swiss Oberhaus stage after 37 years. On matchday 1, Winterthur was in the lead after 3 minutes against FC Basel and ultimately drew a remarkable 1:1 from the favorites. With a little more callousness, even a “threesome” would have been possible. yes high the team of neo-trainer Bruno Berner at the start flown it’s so deep she is in the following two games favor: 0 points, 1:6 goals. Incidentally, the last time FC Vaduz was unsuccessful in terms of points was in the 2014/15 season.
