The story of Super Mario Bros, the movie

A plumber named Mario finds himself propelled into a marvelous world, where he will have to become a hero to find his lost brother and protect the Mushroom Kingdom from the terrifying Bowser.

Who is in charge of the film?

Super Mario Bros, the movie is produced by Nintendo, Universal Pictures and Illumination Studios. It is written by Matthew Fogel, screenwriter of The Lego Great Adventure 2 And Minions 2and directed by the duo Aaron Horvath / Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go! The film).

Super Mario Bros, the movie is also and above all produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of the Mario games, and by Chris Meledandri, director of the animation studios Illumination, behind the films Me, Despicable Me, Minions And All on stage.

The music is co-signed by iconic composer Koji Kondo, author of the original Mario themes, and Bryan Tyler (Scream, Fast and Furious 9, Fast X).

The feature film is part of a broader partnership between the Japanese firm Nintendo and the American studios Universal, which will see the creation of amusement parks centered on the universe of Mario and company, and available in the 4 Universal parks around of the globe.

What release date?

Officially announced in early 2018, Super Mario Bros, the movie hits French theaters on April 5, 2023. It is scheduled for release in the United States two days later, and will be released in Japan on April 28.

What voice casting for Super Mario Bros, the movie ?

The character of Mario has been dubbed since 1995 by the cult Charles Martinet, who gave him his emblematic accent and his sunny and sympathetic tone. To the chagrin of many players, the famous plumber will not have his historic voice for the film, and will be vocally embodied by Chris Pratt (Parks and Recs, Guardians of the Galaxy).

The rest of the original voice cast is made up of other Hollywood stars, like Anya Taylor-Joy (The Ladies Game) and Jack Black (Jumanji). We do not yet have the names of the French dubbers of the film, but Les Numériques will obviously keep you informed.
