Information continues to arrive in dribs and drabs about the Super Mario Bros film, available in theaters at the end of March here, since the feature film is animated in the French studios of Illumination. Will Mario push the ditty in it? Nothing is less sure.
Super Mario and his Mushroom Kingdom pals got their first-ever official trailer earlier this month and it was well received by the public. But as interviews with the film’s voice actors are released, one wonders if the latter would not be very different from what one might expect.
The actors reveal their singing number
Jack Black was the first to swing: Bowser will have the right to a musical moment in Super Mario bros the Movie, but it’s not the only one, since the Toad actor has also confirmed having had to improvise a song For the movie. What was therefore a rumor last April tends to be confirmed, Super Mario Bros the Movie will most likely be a musical. We wonder how all of this will fit together internationally and if the French voices, so much appreciated in the trailer, will succeed in giving voice during the different singing numbers.
Good news ?
From our point of view it is not necessarily a good thing to regularly intersperse the feature film with songs. Of course, some non-Disney films are doing very well, like good old South Park the Film and its subtitled songs when it was first released in theaters. And even if it’s something that children really like when it’s done well, fanzouz 30-somethings who have been following the plumber since his first adventures may have something to worry about. Verdict in April 2023, unless musical numbers are revealed in an upcoming trailer.
