Supergirl: it’s official, Milly Alcock is the new superhero of the DCU

We told you about it a few days ago, and today it’s official: Milly Alcock is the new Supergirl! The actress will play the superheroine in the new DC universe led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

From Westeros to Krypton

Enter Emilia Jones (CODA), Meg Donnelly (Zombies) and Milly Alcock, the director and producer finally chose, as he announced on the social network Instagram: “Milly is a fantastic and talented young actress, and I’m incredibly excited for her to be a part of the DCU”did he declare.

She joins David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, Nicholas Hoult and Isabela Merced in the cast of the next film Superman: Legacywhich begins filming in March.

Discovered by many in the spin-off of Game Of Thrones House of the Dragonwhere she played the young princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Milly Alcock also starred in the series Upright And Reckoning.

She will take on the features of Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, in the next film Superman: Legacywhich is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. She will also play the main role in the film Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrowwhich will tell the solitary life of the heroine left on a piece of Krypton adrift in space.

Adapted from the acclaimed comic book series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, published in 2021, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow promises to shed light on the life of one who was forced to watch her entire family die tragically, far from Kal-El’s more enviable destiny on Earth.

As a reminder, the DC Extended Universe (or DCEU, for DC Extended Universe in original version) officially ended last December with the release ofAquaman and the Lost Kingdomand is replaced by the more sober DCU (or DC Universe).

The future of the comic book giant in cinema and television is now in the hands of James Gunn and Peter Safran, who have announced a plan for “next eight to ten years” and the start of films and series in cinemas and on the Max streaming service. The stated objective is to produce two new films and as many series per year, based on the model of Marvel and its MCU.
