In Superman and Lois, the heroes are played by Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin. But many of them have played these mythical roles, in cinema and on television.
There are characters that are adored by filmmakers. This is for example the case of superheroes like Superman. Created in January 1933 by American screenwriter Jerry Siegel and Canadian cartoonist Joe Shuster, the man in the red cape has never ceased to inspire pop culture. Just like Lois Lane, his wife, journalist at the Daily Planet. Long before the Superman and Loïs series (Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin), which TF1 is broadcasting from this Tuesday, July 12, these two characters have been played by many actors. Starting with the duo Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder. It is indeed the two actors who were chosen to play Superman and Loïs Lane in the original saga at the cinema. Spectators were able to admire them in no less than four feature films.
They first appeared in Supermanin 1978. They were later found in Superman IIin 1980, in Superman IIIin 1983 then in Superman IV: The Face to Face in 1987. Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder then gave way to two new actors: Brandon Routh and Kate Bosworth. This new duo only appeared in one film, Superman Returns, in 2006. In 2013, two other actors were cast: Henry Cavill as Superman and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. After admiring them in man of steelspectators found them in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justicein 2016 then in Justice League the following year and Zack Snyder’s Justice Leaguereleased on HBO Max in 2021.
Lois and Clark, the new adventures of Superman: the first performers
On television too, Superman has been adapted several times. Between 1993 and 1997, Dean Cain and Teri Hatcher played the main characters in the series Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. In 2001, in Smallville, viewers discovered a new Superman in the person of Tom Welling. In this cult series, Erica Durance aka Loïs Lane only appeared during the fourth season before becoming a main character. For a few years, therefore, it is Elizabeth Tulloch and Tyler Hoechlin who have recovered these mythical roles. The first season is therefore broadcast on TF1 from this Tuesday, July 12 in prime time.
