‘Superman is a huge priority’: James Gunn reassures DC fans

James Gunn reacted to rumors that “Man of Steel 2” might be canceled by responding that Superman was a huge priority by DC.

While James Gunn and Peter Safran, the two new leaders of DC Studios, must very soon present their ten-year plan to the CEO of Warner Bros. Discovery, David Zaslav, rumors are rife about the direction the DC Universe will take.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Patty Jenkins won’t be directing Wonder Woman 3 and the movie may not see the light of day. Speculation has also been made about the cancellation of potential Man of Steel and Black Adam sequels.

Bad news at DC: Wonder Woman 3 and Man of Steel 2 in danger?

Statements that caused a stir, especially since Henry Cavill recently took over the role of Superman in the post-generic scene of Black Adam, and announced on social networks his official return to the role.

James Gunn then took to Twitter to reassure fans. He thus confirmed that Superman was one of his highest priorities.

A netizen questioned the director and producer: “Hey James, please tell us if we’re going to see a Superman? We’ve been deprived of the biggest comic book character on the big screen in ages !”

To which Gunn replied: “Yes, of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority“.

Another user then asked Gunn if the rumors about his animosity towards Henry Cavill were true. He replied that this was false.

Let the fans be reassured, Superman should therefore experience new adventures within the DC Universe.

“We know we’re not going to make everyone happy every step of the way”

On December 8, when there was talk of rebooting the DC Universe, James Gunn tweeted:

Peter and I chose to take the helm of DC Studios knowing that we were going to be entering a fractious environment, both in the stories being told and in the audiences themselves, and that there would be an inevitable period of transition then. that we are about to tell a cohesive story across film, television, animation and games.

We know we’re not going to make everyone happy every step of the way, but we can promise that everything we do is in the service of STORY and in service of the DC CHARACTERS you cherish and we have cherished all our life”.

He then went on to say:As for answers about the future of the DCU, I sadly have to ask you to wait. We’re giving these characters and stories the time and attention they deserve, and we ourselves still have a lot of questions to ask and answer..”
