The Son of Krypton’s next adventure has never been closer. While its shooting is scheduled for the month of March, the film Superman: Legacy revealed a first photo of its (almost) complete cast. An actress also accidentally revealed what appears to be the new logo that the superhero will sport.
A wink to Kingdom Come ?
As usual with director James Gunn, the information came from his personal Instagram account, where he shared a photo of all the actors of Superman: Legacy following the first collective reading of the scenario.
Alongside producers and directors James Gunn and Peter Safran, we can recognize actors David Corenswet (Clark Kent / Superman), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Rachel Brosnhan (Lois Lane), Sara Sampaio (performed Starring Eve Teschmacher), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), Skyler Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner) and Anthony Carrigan (Rex Mason / Metamorpho).
Note that Nicholas Hoult has already shaved his head to step into the skin of Lex Luthor, and that Milly Alcock is still missing (House of the Dragon), the confirmed interpreter of Supergirl.
Alongside this photo, actress Isabela Merced also shared a photo on the networks, but which was quickly deleted. And for good reason, it revealed the new logo that the superhero will wear.
Although it is incomplete in the image, the logo is indeed that of the acclaimed comic book Kingdom Come by Mark Waid and Alex Ross, published in 1996. In this story which takes place in the future, Superman and the Justice League find themselves disconnected from the Earth’s population, who then turn to superheroes ©ros amorals. A dark tale labeled at the time Elseworldsbecause it differed from the classic continuity of the DC Comics universe.
The logo had already been worn by Brandon Routh in 2019, during his appearance in the series Crisis on Infinite Earths from the CW channel. If we will wait to see if this logo is used in the rest of the film, and not just in pre-production, this gives a certain idea of the ambitions of the project.
Written, produced and directed by James Gunn, Superman: Legacy will tell the adventures of a Superman “in search of balance between his Kyptonian heritage and his human education”, as indicated by producer Peter Safran (Aquaman, Peacemaker).
The film is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 9, 2025.
